The Cumberland Dukes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 74-59 bruising from Amelia County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Amelia County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JUSTIN PERRY, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 15 rebounds. PERRY is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. JAIDEN SQUIRE was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.
Cumberland bumped their record down to 3-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Amelia County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cumberland will face off against Lunenburg Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Amelia County, they will head out on the road to face off against Randolph-Henry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Randolph-Henry and Amelia County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
