Dos Palos and Avenal are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Dos Palos Broncos will head out on the road to challenge the Avenal Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dos Palos is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Dos Palos suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-27 loss at the hands of Coalinga. While losing is never fun, Dos Palos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1379th, while Coalinga is ranked 477th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jacquez Jones, who scored nine points. JT Gomez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Avenal came up short against Mendota on Friday and fell 52-40. Avenal has not had much luck with Mendota recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Dos Palos has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Avenal, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Dos Palos came up short against Avenal in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 57-46. Can Dos Palos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
