Softball Recap: Midway Wins Going Away Against Fairmont

Midway won the last time they faced Fairmont and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Golden Tornadoes. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Peyton Hering and Karabeth Benton did most of the damage at the plate: Hering went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Benton scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Clark, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Midway and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Fairmont, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-6.

Midway wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 1-0 win against Hoggard on the 2nd. As for Fairmont, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-8 victory against Pender on the 3rd.
