Basketball Recap: Terry Sanford Comes Up Short

Terry Sanford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 72-60 to the Triton Hawks. The Bulldogs were probably out for revenge after losing 60-59 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Terry Sanford lost, don't look at Mason Walker. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most rebounds Walker has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was James Ravenell, who posted 17 points.

Triton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ro'Mello Pegues led the charge by going 10 of 21 on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Pegues' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmad Morris, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Terry Sanford now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Triton, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Terry Sanford will face off against Pine Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Terry Sanford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. As for Triton, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Smithfield-Selma at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Triton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
