Baseball Recap: Brunswick Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Brunswick had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Camden Hills Windjammers a 3-0 shutout. While the Dragons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Jimmy Cook, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Blood, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Brunswick pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Camden Hills, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brunswick will host Brewer at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Camden Hills, they will welcome Lincoln Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Windjammers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
