The Lafayette Hornets will square off against the Fort White Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Friday, Lafayette blew past Wildwood, posting a 42-13 victory. Considering the Hornets have won four contests by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tywan K Williamson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 204 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 31 yards. Parker Hill was K Williamson's top target, picking up 61 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Zamarion Hawkins, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort White). They claimed a resounding 47-0 win over Union County. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Fort White's win came from a few key players Lafayette will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was MATTHEW PITTS, who picked up 33 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 50 yards.incredibly, PITTS got all that yardage with just one huge run Another passer making a difference was JAYDEN JACKSON, who threw for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fort White was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Lafayette pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.6 points on average over those games. As for Fort White, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Lafayette couldn't quite get it done against Fort White when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 32-21. Will the Hornets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
