The Paxton Tigers lost against the South Platte Blue Knights back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Paxton fell to the Blue Knights 54-49. Paxton has not had much luck with the Blue Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Paxton still got an impressive performance from Jacelyn Jorgensen, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jorgensen has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmalee Nicholson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Johanna Frerichs was a one-man wrecking crew for South Platte as she scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Madison Cheleen was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Paxton has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for South Platte, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
Paxton will take on the Mavericks at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Sandhills Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for South Platte, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
