2A/1A Southern Piedmont recap Oct. 3, 2012
West Lincoln moved up to 280 from 313 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A/1A Southern Piedmont. The Rebels climbed the ranks as a result of a 45-14 win over Cherryville.
East Lincoln extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lincolnton, 13-8. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Lake Norman Charter's dynamic duo of Michael Dorsainvil and Alex Scearce proved tough for Bessemer City to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dorsainvil threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns and Scearce had 156 yards receiving. Petey Fabian helped Lake Norman Charter's passing attack out by catching two balls for 21 yards.
Cedric Mackey was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 135 yards as the Yellowjackets bested the Yellowjackets. Teammate Damian Scott added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.
Dorsainvil has thrown for 811 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Scearce has 15 catches for 433 yards. Tripp Smith leads the league in rushing with 609 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when West Lincoln takes on East Lincoln. As it stands, Thomas Sain's team is in third, while Mike Byus's team is in second.
Bob McKay's team took down Bessemer City 55-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dorsainvil in the win.
