This was a revenge match for Basic, as the team was forced to settle for a 43-38 defeat when these two played two weeks ago.
Basic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natasha Harrison, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Harrison has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamilyah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Durango lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amia McKinney, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Elizebeth Mahavong, who scored 14 points.
The victory got Basic back to even at 9-9. As for Durango, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Basic will take on Sunrise Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Sunrise Mountain is ranked 40th, while Basic is ranked 34th). As for Durango, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mojave at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mojave is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
