Brock True made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, firing off three runs, three doubles, and one triple while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hagen McCuistion, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Hilario Alvarez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Fowler was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .368 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Crowley County hadn't done well against Rye recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Chargers put the hurt on the Thunderbolts with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Fowler pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Crowley County, their record is now 10-7.
Everything went Fowler's way against Crowley County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Fowler made off with a 16-3 victory. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
