The Fort Myers Green Wave's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Lehigh by a score of 46-44. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Fort Myers of the 54-45 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Fort Myers' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alex Thelusma, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and Madrid Tucker who scored eight points along with seven rebounds. Therry Theresias was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Fort Myers has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Lehigh, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Fort Myers and the Red Knights will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Fort Myers will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Green Wave are ranked 240th). As for Lehigh, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. Immokalee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully the Lightning likes a good challenge.
