The Harlingen South Hawks will square off against the McAllen Memorial Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harlingen South is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Harlingen South never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Donna last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-28 victory over the Redskins.
One reason for the win was Harlingen South's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Gilbert Lerma was the leader with two sacks.
McAllen typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday McAllen Memorial proved too difficult a challenge. McAllen Memorial blew past McAllen 22-0. McAllen Memorial might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three contests by 22 points or more this season.
Among those leading the charge was Sebastian Aleman, who rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Harlingen South has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.8 rushing yards per game.
