The Centennial Spartans will face off against the Arlington Heights Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
On Monday, Centennial didn't have quite enough to beat Martin and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.
Centennial took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-23, 15-12.
Meanwhile, Arlington Heights waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 3-0 victory.
Arlington Heights' got stronger as the match went on, holding Trimble Tech to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-11, 25-9.
Arlington Heights had a senior duo take command as Harper Sheppard had 36 assists and four digs and Leandra Banks had 12 digs and three aces. Sheppard has been hot for a while, having posted 20 or more assists the last 16 times she's played.
Arlington Heights was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trimble Tech only served four.
Arlington Heights' win bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 31-13.
Centennial took their victory against Arlington Heights in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
