The Mitchell County Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Quitman County Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Quitman County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mitchell County, who comes in off a win.
Mitchell County had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 40-36 W over Miller County on Friday. The victory was just what Mitchell County needed coming off of a 67-23 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Quitman County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 15th straight loss. They lost to Pataula Charter Academy on the road by a decisive 50-36 margin.
Mitchell County's win bumped their record up to 4-17. As for Quitman County, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15.
Mitchell County took their victory against Quitman County when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 58-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mitchell County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
