Softball Recap: Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Beats Isle of Wight Academy for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association entered their tilt with Isle of Wight Academy on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Chargers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 back in April.

Sophia Peterson and Audrey Haywood were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Peterson tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Meanwhile, Haywood tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Peterson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Peterson got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Haywood went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Haywood a new career-high.

In other batting news, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association got a massive performance out of Aubrey Edmonds, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Edmonds a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Machotka, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matches.

Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Isle of Wight Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association will take on Cumberland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Isle of Wight Academy, they will face off against Nansemond River at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
