South Central and New Washington are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Rebels will face off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Central has three straight wins, New Washington has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Gracie Haag made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, South Central got a massive performance out of Isla Schweitzer, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Delaney Pennington was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
South Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Charlestown hit New Washington with a nine-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs lost 16-1 to the Pirates.
New Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for South Central, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Everything went South Central's way against New Washington in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as South Central made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
