The Averill Park Warriors will face off against the Columbia Blue Devils at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Averill Park 3.6, Columbia 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Averill Park is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Colonie Central just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Wolfpack by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since April 10th.
Averill Park got a good showing from Ellie Lindow, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Natalia Mancino made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Columbia had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Monday. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.
Not much got past Sophia Galligan, who gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake off the board. Galligan has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Columbia's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addie Angelo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Angelo a new career-high.
Columbia's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Averill Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Averill Park has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Columbia struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Averill Park skirted past Columbia 1-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
