Olympic is on a six-game streak of home losses, Berry a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Olympic Trojans will take on the Berry Cardinal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
While it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, Olympic was not quite Ardrey Kell's equal in the second half on Friday. Olympic ended up on the wrong side of a rough 34-14 walloping at the hands of Ardrey Kell.
Despite the loss, Olympic had strong showings from Alex Wiley iv, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Chance Cato, who threw for 375 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Berry had to suffer through a rough 59-6 loss at the hands of Myers Park. While losing is never fun, Berry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Myers Park is ranked 28th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tanner Bushee, who threw for 123 yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Berry's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Myers Park's QB was sacked four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Jashawn Shaw and his two sacks.
The losses dropped Olympic to 2-7 and Berry to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Olympic against Berry when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 63-14 victory. Does Olympic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Berry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
