The Brown County Hornets will face off against the Mendon Unity Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Brown County's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Rushville-Industry hitters got past them. The Hornets walked away with a 17-13 victory over the Rockets on Friday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, Mendon Unity never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against Pleasant Hill/Western as they made off with an 18-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Jayce Huntley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mendon Unity is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 10-11 otherwise. Huntley was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Adler Gray was incredible, going 1-for-2 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Skylor Goudschaal, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Mendon Unity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Brown County's win bumped their record up to 21-9. As for Mendon Unity, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-12.
