The Neuqua Valley Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Waubonsie Valley Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neuqua Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Neuqua Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Metea Valley with a sharp 29-4 victory on Monday. The Wildcats have beaten the Mustangs the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Ava Drehs looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Neuqua Valley let Ashley Pape and Esha Argawal run wild. Pape went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Argawal went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Argawal a new career-high. Tegan Spellerberg was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Neuqua Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 14.2.
Meanwhile, Waubonsie Valley had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Metea Valley 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since April 10th.
Molly Quinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Waubonsie Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dezirae Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
The victory got Neuqua Valley back to even at 9-9. As for Waubonsie Valley, their record now sits at 5-10.
Neuqua Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Waubonsie Valley in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
