Basketball Recap: Berry Triumphs

Berry strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 57-56 W against the Ellwood Christian Eagles. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one point.

Berry got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Jackson out in front who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Jackson's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Smith, who posted 15 points and five assists.

Berry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Berry's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Ellwood Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Berry will take on Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ellwood Christian, they will challenge Keith at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
