On Saturday, San Jose Prep suffered a tough 78-54 defeat at the hands of Atlantic Collegiate Academy. While losing is never fun, San Jose Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 180th in Florida, while Atlantic Collegiate Academy is ranked 15th in South Carolina).
Atlantic Collegiate Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamie Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Brooks is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sam Medalie, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists.
San Jose Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Atlantic Collegiate Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Jose Prep will take on Impact Christian Academy at 7:00 a.m. on Friday. Atlantic Collegiate Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Governor's School for Science & Math at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
