It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Collins Tigers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-28 win over Loyd Star. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Collins.
Travon Magee threw for 101 yards on eight of 15 attempts. Donte Booth was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Loyd Star still got an impressive performance from Jordyn Kees, who rushed for 233 yards and four touchdowns.
Collins has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Loyd Star, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2.
Collins is on the road again on Friday and play against Heidelberg at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Heidelberg will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Loyd Star does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
