The Moody Blue Devils will face off against the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Moody took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past John Carroll Catholic 11-1. Considering the Blue Devils have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Chloe Phillips looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent over her last five contests.
At the plate, Kendall Trimm was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Kile, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Moody always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Carroll Catholic only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hewitt-Trussville). They came out on top against Chelsea by a score of 10-5 on Saturday. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Corey Goguts was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run. Ava Hyde was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Moody's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Moody hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. However, it's not like Hewitt-Trussville struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Moody came up short against Hewitt-Trussville in their previous matchup back in February of 2019, falling 5-2. Will Moody have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
