Basketball Recap: Ryan Candland Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Ad Fontes Academy

It was a Battle of the Birds when Covenant Christian Academy duked it out with Ad Fontes Academy on Friday. The Covenant Christian Academy Golden Eagles secured a 41-37 W over the Ad Fontes Academy Falcons. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Covenant Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Candland, who posted 20 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Candland has scored at least a third of Covenant Christian Academy's points. Brandon Alibaruho was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Covenant Christian Academy pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points over those games. As for Ad Fontes Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Covenant Christian Academy will welcome Northern Virginia HomeSchool at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Ad Fontes Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
