The Kuna Kavemen are taking a road trip to take on the Centennial Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kuna will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Kuna and Capital, and Kuna kept the tradition alive. The Kavemen came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 7-3 on Friday.
Kuna got a great performance from Zane Hoagland as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Edwards, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Zane Lombardi also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Kuna hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capital struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Centennial faced Eagle in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Patriots fell 6-3 to the Mustangs. The Patriots' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Centennial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Herr, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Kuna's record now sits at 11-7. As for Centennial, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 15-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kuna has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Centennial struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Kuna skirted past Centennial 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Kavemen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
