Powder Valley scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Cove, 40-22. At the time, the Leopards were ranked 11th in the state, while the Badgers were 32nd.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Powder Valley, who took down 11th ranked Cove, 40-22.
Imbler's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kyle Johnson threw for 116 and five touchdowns and Joe Griffin had 47 yards receiving. On the ground Gary Combe chipped in 100 yards. Jaden Bales helped Imbler's passing attack out by catching two balls for 39 yards.
Imbler's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 855 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Casey Robertson has 18 catches for 489 yards. Griffin leads the league in rushing with 987 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Shawn Parker's team and the Panthers. The Leopards enters the game ranked 16th in the state, while Imbler ranks third.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Lee Lowe's team takes on Cove. The Panthers' offense has scored 384 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Leopards have allowed only 132 on the year.
Imbler's Griffin needs only 13 yards against Cove next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Leopards take on the Panthers. Cove has allowed 132 points this season, while Imbler has given up 134. The Leopards allowed 40 points last week as they fell to Dan Townsend's team.
The Badgers were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Cove. Powder Valley came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
