Park City hasn't had much luck against Murray recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Miners will be playing at home against the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. Park City has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Park City is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They lost 22-4 to Stansbury.
Olivia Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Dylan Radziukinas was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Murray made easy work of Park City on Wednesday and carried off a 19-4 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Miners recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Murray got a massive performance out of Savana Whitlock, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Whitlock a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Suzie Christensen, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Murray always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .512 or higher in six consecutive contests.
The win got Murray back to even at 5-5. As for Park City, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Murray's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Park City has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Murray, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Park City's sizable advantage in that area, the Spartans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Park City might still be hurting after the 19-4 defeat they got from Murray in their previous meeting on Wednesday. Will the Miners have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
