Football Recap: Spanish Fork Takes a Loss

Spanish Fork scored first but ultimately less than Wasatch in their contest on Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 15-14 to the Wasps. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dons of the 49-42 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2022.

Several Dons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Bunnell, who rushed for 32 yards and two TDs. Gage Christensen also helped out with an impressive 111 receiving yards.

Wasatch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joseph Bradley, who threw for 121 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 56 yards. The Wasps' leading receiver Cache Coombs was Bradley's top target yet again, picking up 86 receiving yards and one score.

This is the second loss in a row for Spanish Fork and nudges their season record down to 1-3. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two points. As for Wasatch, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Spanish Fork will take on rival Orem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wasatch is set to square off against their familiar foe Timpview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
