St. Mary has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Durham Academy Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
St. Mary's posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They breezed by Chatham Hall at home to the tune of 41-10. The victory was just what St. Mary's needed coming off of a 50-23 defeat in their prior game.
Among those leading the charge was Helen Newcomb, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Durham Academy strolled past Cary Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 32-17.
The victory got St. Mary's back to even at 6-6. As for Durham Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-12 record this season.
St. Mary's might still be hurting after the 51-29 loss they got from Durham Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for St. Mary's, Kendall Harris (who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
