Robert C. Byrd has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Calvary Baptist Academy Patriots at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Robert C. Byrd focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Robert C. Byrd didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Cougars, but they still walked away with a 44-38 victory. The victory was just what Robert C. Byrd needed coming off of a 79-51 loss in their prior matchup.
Robert C. Byrd's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Boyce led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Boyce has scored at least a third of Robert C. Byrd's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Newsuan, who scored 11 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Calvary Baptist Academy proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 30) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Cross Lanes Christian out 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Robert C. Byrd's record now sits at 5-8. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.
