The Chatham Central Bears scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They strolled past South Davidson with points to spare, taking the game 76-58. The win was just business as usual for Chatham Central, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Chatham Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Gaines out in front who scored 19 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Gaines scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Gilliland, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Chatham Central pushed their record up to 10-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for South Davidson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chatham Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Graham at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. South Davidson will finish 2023 at home by hosting West Davidson at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
