The Aquinas Academy Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. The contest between Aquinas Academy and Tri-State Christian wasn't particularly close, with Aquinas Academy falling 68-51. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Aquinas Academy in their matchups with Tri-State Christian: they've now lost nine in a row.
Tri-State Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sam Falko led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five assists. The matchup was Falko's 18th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gary Slagle, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Aquinas Academy's loss was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3. As for Tri-State Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas Academy will square off against Greenwood Mennonite at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greenwood Mennonite focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday. As for Tri-State Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Bohemia Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bohemia Manor will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Tri-State Christian is ranked 62nd).
