Meanwhile, Mcquilla struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Mcquilla got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those two runs gave Smith a new career-high.
