It was a good run, but Kankakee Trinity Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of HomeSchool Resource Center by a score of 55-53. Kankakee Trinity Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as HomeSchool Resource Center apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Despite the loss, Kankakee Trinity Academy still got an impressive performance from Tommy Kujawa, who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds. Kujawa is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Schurman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Fredrick Jefferson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for HomeSchool Resource Center, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Jefferson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Mason O'Neal was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Kankakee Trinity Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for HomeSchool Resource Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kankakee Trinity Academy will face off against Parkview Christian Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for HomeSchool Resource Center, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hammond Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hammond Baptist presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than HomeSchool Resource Center in their respective states (Hammond Baptist is ranked 63rd in Indiana, while HomeSchool Resource Center is ranked 433rd in Illinois).
