Bluegrass United is 0-5 against Harrison County since March of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Bluehawks will welcome the Thorobreds/Fillies at 5:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, Bluegrass United didn't have quite enough to beat Western Hills and fell 7-6.
Bluegrass United saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Hawkins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one run. Another was Hayden Westfall, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Harrison County waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. Everything went their way against the Greyhounds as they made off with a 16-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Thorobreds/Fillies, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Brian Vaughn made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Harrison County got a massive performance out of Boston Reynolds, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Reynolds a new career-high. Jashon Lewis was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Harrison County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Harrison County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-2-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Bluegrass United, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
