Bishop Stang and Bishop Feehan are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Spartans will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Shamrocks at 4:00 p.m. Bishop Stang is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Friday, Bishop Stang earned a 6-2 victory over Arlington Catholic.
Matt Burt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Burt was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Harry Tingley Prince was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Amir Cartagena was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Bishop Stang kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arlington Catholic only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Bishop Feehan won against Archbishop Williams on Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Shamrocks never let Bishop Fenwick get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Shamrocks.
Ayden Mello looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Bumila, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Shute, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Bishop Stang's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Feehan, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Bishop Stang took their win against Bishop Feehan when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Shamrocks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
