The Laurel Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Heartland Christian Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Laurel will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Laurel stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They really took it to Christian Academy of Madison for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-32 victory on the road. While fans of Laurel might be used to big wins, the 30-point margin marked the team's biggest victory yet this season.
Laurel found their leader in underclassman Brayden Gerrian, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gerrian has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic James, who scored 15 points.
After soaring to a 28-point win in their last game, Heartland Christian came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell just short of Suburban Christian by a score of 43-41. Heartland Christian's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite their defeat, Heartland Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Landon Clemens, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Clemens is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Jeremiah Penticuff was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Laurel is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Heartland Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7.
Laurel suffered a grim 77-57 defeat to the Saints in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Laurel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
