Clearfield and Central are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Bison will square off against the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Clearfield was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past Central Cambria 3-2.

Jayce Brothers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Clearfield is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Brothers was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Brothers wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was O'Brian Owens, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Central put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Somerset. The Dragons put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Nobody will forget Mason Sparks's heroic performance anytime soon (especially Somerset's batters): he turned in a perfect game. Sparks has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Wyatt Dilling was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Colton Porreca was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Clearfield, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Clearfield was able to grind out a solid win over Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bison since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
