The Pima Roughriders put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They breezed by San Carlos on the road to the tune of 67-0. Given Pima's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 59th, while San Carlos is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jaxon John threw for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Jojo King was his top target, picking up 39 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Jeremiah Martinez rushed for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Pima's win was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 12-2 Morenci and 7-2 Scottsdale Christian Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 57% over those games). As for San Carlos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
Pima will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Cruz Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Santa Cruz Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for San Carlos, they will head out on the road to face off against Globe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
