After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last four games, The Whitewater Wildcats finally came back down to earth on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 24-10 to Starr's Mill. Whitewater was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Starr's Mill apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Brandon Campbell threw for 47 yards while completing 100% of his passes. Johnathan Navakas was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards. On the ground, Gavin Owen rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Starr's Mill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Inagawa led the charge by throwing for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Dorsey Benefield, who gained 89 total yards and two touchdowns.
Whitewater's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Starr's Mill, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Whitewater does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Starr's Mill will be playing in front of their home fans against Shaw at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shaw will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Starr's Mill is ranked 101st).
