Tanner Lewis and Aiden Gelpke were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Lewis struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Gelpke pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). At the plate, Lewis scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Gelpke scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Gelpke is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Easton Roschke, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Community School of Davidson). Everything went their way against Corvian Community on Friday as Community School of Davidson made off with a 15-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Langtree Charter Academy pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Community School of Davidson, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
