Even though the Franklin Christian Academy Falcons scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, the Summertown Eagles still came out on top. Summertown enjoyed a cozy 78-64 win over Franklin Christian Academy. Given Summertown's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Franklin Christian Academy is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Summertown to victory were Grayson Burleson and Kurt Burleson. Burleson dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Burleson dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Burleson has scored at least 25% of Summertown's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Mabry, who scored seven points.
Summertown is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Franklin Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Summertown will finish 2023 at home by hosting Perry County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Perry County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Franklin Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Knowledge Academies at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
