Football Recap: Windermere Piles Up the Points Against Horizon

The matchup between Windermere and Horizon on Thursday hardly resembled the 13-7 effort from their previous meeting. The Wolverines claimed a resounding 48-15 victory over the Hawks. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 33 points or more this season.

Windermere's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Henry Rogers, who rushed for 180 yards and three scores while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. That's the most rushing touchdowns Rogers has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Davis, who picked up 123 receiving yards and three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Windermere was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Windermere's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Elijah Mosby, Caiderin Shipe, and Justus Vail, who each picked up one sack apiece. Windermere received some extra help from Brady Anderson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

When it comes to explaining why Horizon lost, don't look at Kaio Oliveira. Despite the final result, he rushed for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Oliveira was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.

Windermere's record is now 9-0. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Coming up, Windermere is taking a road trip to square off against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines will be up against the Pioneers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.56 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Horizon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
