This season hasn't been kind to The Towns County Indians, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 44-0 loss at the hands of Warren County. Towns County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Warren County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Warren County's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tra'Shad Mathis, who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Mathis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Jamarion Darden also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Towns County's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Greene County and 10-3 Lincoln County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.2% over those games). As for Warren County, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Towns County will face off against Washington-Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Warren County, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
