The Valley Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Estes Park Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener. They had just enough and edged Jefferson out 49-47.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Dudley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Owen Peterson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Estes Park had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 67-17 win over Union Colony Prep on the road.
Estes Park's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Hill led the charge by scoring 10 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists. Another player making a difference was Ryland Reetz, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Valley's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Estes Park, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
Valley beat Estes Park 50-40 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Estes Park's Gabe Housewright, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds.
