Basketball Recap: Ocosta Drops Season-High Score on North Beach

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ocosta). They breezed by the North Beach Hyaks to the tune of 79-49 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted since January 18, 2024.

Ocosta's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sonny Beard, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Beard is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jesus Agramon was another key player, going 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points and seven assists.

Ocosta was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, North Beach saw an underclassman step up: sophomore JJ Eastman dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Russell, who posted nine points.

Ocosta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for North Beach, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ocosta won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lake Quinault at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Beach, they will welcome Chief Leschi at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Beach is facing Chief Leschi at the right time seeing as Chief Leschi is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
