Palm Desert has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Rancho Mirage Rattlers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Palm Desert posted their biggest victory since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past La Quinta 83-50 at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Palm Desert had established a 25 point advantage.
It was another big night for Wil Wilson, who scored 23 points along with four steals. Jecorey Jones was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Rancho Mirage humbled Xavier Prep with a 84-45 victory. Given Rancho Mirage's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while Xavier Prep is ranked 1062nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palm Desert's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Rancho Mirage, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
Palm Desert came out on top in a nail-biter against Rancho Mirage in their previous matchup on January 9th, sneaking past 65-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for Palm Desert since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
