Pahoa has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Honoka'a Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Pahoa has not done well against Hawaii Prep recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Pahoa put the hurt on Hawaii Prep with a sharp 55-29 victory.
Hunter Paio was the offensive standout of the match as he dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyran Canete, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Honoka'a, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 76-58 loss to Kohala on Wednesday.
Pahoa's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Honoka'a, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Pahoa took a serious blow against Honoka'a when the teams last played back in February of 2022, falling 80-49. Can Pahoa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
