If the Brawley Wildcats were feeling good off their 59-38 takedown of the Holtville Vikings last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Brawley took a 44-27 bruising from Calipatria on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brawley has scored all season.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joaquin Lofton, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Domanic Vallejo, who scored eight points.
Brawley's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-11. As for Calipatria, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Brawley will head out on the road to take on Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southwest EC has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18. As for Calipatria, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Holtville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holtville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1070th, while Calipatria is ranked 457th).
